The Seed is the Grace of The Present Moment

Having read the Gospel of Luke 8:4-15, I had only to get to Luke8:5 before the Lord reminded me how the seed is the grace of the present moment, scattered again and again throughout  life, and how I have to repent for wasting it.  How often I waste this and trample it under foot by failing to respond to the proposal of Jesus in the now. It's not so much an asking to "do" something but the cultivation of an awareness of Jesus companionship. For those us who walk with Him this is what He asks of us, to be a companion in each of our choices. Jesus and I do this or that together. And then the demon is also constantly present to steal that moment away through some frivolous distraction or through a though of resentment towards my neighbor or some bad politician I have just heard about. It's a constant uphill battle of the mind to remember that God did not sow the seed once but is continually sowing it in vast abundance. It can't be contained by anxiously focusing on self but only by focusing on the other and forgetting the self. For in giving we receive. The seed is constantly been given but we have our own stuff in our lap. By "giving" - each present moment to God our lap is empty out heart is open and what is being given to us we will keep.  "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap" Luke 6:38
